Aloe Vera has the same consistency & viscosity as water. When cutting the Aloe Vera leaf the inside appears to have a gel like thick consistency due to the fiber & pulp it contains. It is commonly believed that Aloe Vera is naturally a thick jelly like substance due to thickeners added to Aloe Vera gel products.
Using pure untreated Aloe juice requires refrigeration because of its short shelf life, like any other food grade product. This makes it very unsuitable for cosmetic purposes as some preservative free Aloe juice products have been tested positive for mold & bacteria.
